I just read some post in Fujitsu Siemens Forum about WLAN button in Amilo M7440G can not be activated with Vista. I don’t know why but mine is worked.
For those, who got problem, maybe this help.
I did a fresh install of Vista Business (in German). After installing all drivers, which Vista doesn’t have, e.g. Texas Instrument Firewire (forgot from which site I got this one), AC97 (can be downloaded from realtek site), and ALPS Touchpad (take from DELL site, choose Latitude D820), I installed the Power Manager software. I installed the latest one (version 1.9.1), which I could find in Fujitsu-Siemens site. No need to reboot and voila… it works.
Never try to deactivate WLAN from windows mobility center. I did this once and the button didn’t work anymore. Reinstalling the Power Manager doesn’t help, I had to use the System Recovery function to undo the last driver installation, which is before I clicked the deactivate button in the mobility center.
Never use the Mobility center to deactivate WLAN.
Good luck.
I have the same laptop.
Install the program that is in the fujitsu siemens website for winxp
Mine is also working on vista, but, a software-switch to turn it on is the most stupid idea I know. If more than one user logs on, it screws up the connection.
Website down, does someone have the power manager install files?
